Our Vision and Values
At Mathern Day Nursery, outdoor play is part of the daily rhythm, not an occasional extra. The children spend every day playing in our garden and exploring the secure field at the rear of the nursery, complete with our very own rabbits, Hoppy & Peanut and guinea pigs, Pumpkin & Squeak.
Our enormous outside field gives children room to test ideas with their whole bodies. They climb, balance, dig, carry, build, notice, question and collaborate. That kind of play supports confidence, independence, physical development and curiosity in a way that feels natural - because to children it is.
With a Circle Time story area, a Woodwork Shed, Reading Shed, Mud Kitchen, Sandpit, Nature Shed and more, your child will get the very best of learning, investigating, movement and all year round fresh air.

I first opened the doors to Mathern Day Nursery in April 1989, and I am very proud to say that we were the first nursery to open in the Chepstow area. For over 35 years we have been supporting local families with high quality childcare, and I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and your child soon.”

All the staff make a huge effort to get to know the children and parents and create a really tailored approach to caring for them and supporting them with their needs.
