Nurturing Tomorrow Today
About Us
Mathern Day Nursery was established in April 1989 by Mandy Gore, who has continued to run the Nursery to this day.
Being the first Chepstow nursery to open 37 years ago, we are experts in caring for children and their well-being. We aim to provide quality and affordable childcare in a safe and friendly setting where your child can develop and grow in a fun, happy and stimulated environment.
We are a pre-school nursery for ages 3 and 4, and our sister nursery - Caerwent Day Nursery - offers childcare right from 6 weeks up to age 4. Please check out our website for babies and toddler childcare over on www.caerwentdaynursery.co.uk

Our Setting
Based in the rural village of Mathern in Chepstow, Monmouthshire; Mathern Day is an English speaking nursery but we use the Welsh language through some of our daily activities parallel with the Welsh Government guidelines.
As well as the enormous outdoor play area and field which is a huge part of our nursery, we also have three different rooms internally.
Our wonderful and light Art Studio ‘Stwdio Celf’
Our fun and playful Home Corner ‘Cartref’
Our cosy and quiet Cwtch ‘Y Cwtch’
Our sturdy and functional Block Area ‘Blociau’

Outdoor Play
Over the last 35 years the nursery has steadily grown to cater for up to 48 children in any session, and at the same time maintaining the family atmosphere and ethos we like our nursery settings to have.
Outdoor play is an important part of development and our daily routine. We have a large garden with a variety of equipment as well as a secure field at the rear of the building which the children love to run around and explore all of the different areas of play – and of course cuddle and care for our resident animals Peanut, Hoppy, Pumpkin and Squeak too!

Living Eggs
Children can observe the life cycle of chicks with Living Eggs over a 2 week period from egg to chick!
This year we are very excited to be keeping the chicks that hatched at Mathern this Spring and welcoming them to our family long term. We have built a chicken coop in our lovely field and the children are very excited to continue to look after them.
Peanut, Hoppy, Squeak and Pumpkin will have some new neighbours.
